Koshi Tappu National
park lying at east Nepal at around 500 kms from Kathmandu is surrounded
at an area of 175 square kilometers. Established in 1976, this flood
plain located wildlife reserve at the bank of Sapta Koshi River was
declared a Ramsar site in 1987.Koshi Tappu national park selters more
than 290 bird species which includes 20 + duck species, 2 species of
ibises, storks, egrets, herons etc. and more. One the most endagered
Swamp Partridge and Bengal florican are found in Koshi Tappu National
Park. From years and decades, the Koshi Tappu national park has been an
extremely important resting place for migrating birds. One of lot
endagered wild buffalo called ARNA is found in Koshi
Tappu National Park. The Sapta Koshi River keeps a record of Endagered
Gharial and Crocodiles as well as dolphin species.
While talking about
the Vegetation in Koshi Tappu national park, most of the plant live
include Khar Pater grasslands with a few patches of Khair - Sisso scrub
forest and deciduous mixed riverine forest.
During the monsoon, the reserve is flooded with depths ranging from 10
to 300 cm. From season to season the Sapta-Koshi River changes its
