Annapurna circuit trekking is one of the most popular treks in Nepal for its easy to moderate trekking route, beautiful sceneries, likeable local villages with mixed ethnic groups which allows a combination of exploration of both northern and Southern Nepal Himalayas. The great himalayan trek route started at an altitude as low as 760 mtrs ranges to 5400 mtrs bringing a large variation of landscapes. The views, vegetation, geography, picturseque settlement rises upto the Thorung-La Pass, the highest altitude of this trek and one of the toughest hiking part. The trekking itinerary for Annapurna circuit trekking is given below which, is some extent is changeable.
Annapurna circuit trekking itinerary:
Day 01: Arrival to Kathmandu. Transfer to the hotel in Kathmandu. Evening is allowed free to shop around at your own. Overnight in hotel in Kathmandu.
Day 02: Free day in Kathmandu for pre-trek preparation. Sightseeing in Kathmandu. The sightseeing on this day includes sightseeing in Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, Swayambhunath Stupa, Kathmandu Durbar Square etc. overnight in Hotel in Kathmandu (1350mtrs).
Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Besi Sahar (760mtrs.). Besi Sahar is a busy trade center of this region with plenty of options of accommodation and fooding. Overnight in Besi Sahar.
Day 04: Trekking from Besi Sahar to Bahun Danda. Trekking starts on this day, the very beginning of the trek ends at Bahun Danda on this day with around 5 hours hike up (1310 mtrs.). While passing through you will be able to see one of most rewarding sceneries of rice fields, Bamboo forests, and a mixed community of Tamang, Bahun and Gurung Villages. Overnight in bahun danda.
Day 05: Trekking from Banundanda to Chamje. The around 6 hour’s treks on this day brings you sensational views of Mountains including Lamjung, Manaslu, peak 29, Annapurna etc. You will be crossing several suspension bridges, beautiful waterfalls, springs and gorges. Overnight in Chamje (1430mtrs.).
Day 06: Trekking from Chamje to Dharapani. The day’s rewarding trek includes crossings of suspension bridges, waterfalls and the continued views of Annapurna, Lamjung and Manaslu Mountains are available during the day. Overnight in Dharapani (1860mtrs.).
Day 07: Trekking from Dharapani to Chame. Pass through a narrower gorge which is steep sided in several places. Continuously you will be able to see the mountain views as well as other landscape views and ethnic villages. This days 6 hour trek ends at Chame (2670 mtrs.).
Day 08: Trekking from Chame to Pisang Village. A trek that starts with the barley fields at your side makes a difference here. The path follows the narrow gorge before entering Manang District. Manang district is one of the two districts that are said to be beyond the Himalayas in Nepal. Overnight in Pisang (3200mtrs.).
Day 09: Trekking from Pisang to Manang. This part of the trek is most rewarding. From Pisang, all the trail to Manang is influenced that by Buddhism. The Mani walls, Chortens, stone-scripts on this trail are viewable. Overnight in Manang (3540mtrs.).
Day 10: Free day in Manang for acclimatization. The Settlement of Manang itself is wonderful with almost Tibetan styled houses with balconies kept outside. Stunning views of Annapurna II, III IV makes the rest pleasurable while exploring the local lifestyles.
Day 11: Trek to Leder from Manang. The days climb continues through the alpine areas. You will stem away from the Marshyangdi River on this day. The mountain views are again of importance rewarding your trek on this day. Overnight in Leder village (4260 mtrs.).
Day 12: Trekking from Leder to Thorung Phedi. This day’s short trek of around 3 hour leads you to Thorung Phedi. Prepare yourself for the next day’s tough climb of highest pass of this trek. Overnight in Thorung Phedi (4450 mtrs.).
Day 13: This day’s trekking starts with difficulties. It can be most difficult yet most spectacular part of the whole trek. Climb the Thorung La Pass (5416 mtrs.), one of the highest points of this trek. At thorung pass, the prayer flags wind your pains and tiredness of the climb, the mountain views seen from here are just incredible while the Kaligandaki valley, one of the deepest of the world lies down at your fascinates. To end the long trekking day of around 11 hours, continue trekking to Muktinath for an overnight stay (3800 mtrs.).
Day 14: Trekking from Muktinath to Jomsom on this day. The Muktinath Temple is very important pilgrimage site of the region. It is one of the four important Hindu sites in India and Nepal. The temple equally important for Both Hindus and Buddhists is visited every year by a remarkable number of pilgrimages. Overnight in Jomsom (2710 mtrs.).
Day 15: Fly from Jomsom to Pokhara. The morning flight to Pokhara brings you views of the Nilgiri Mountain at the sunrise. Pokhara is famous trek transit point of this region. Sightseeing in Pokhara in the afternoon including boat in Phewa Lake, visit the Davi’s falls, visit the world peace stupa etc. overnight in Pokhara ( 850 mtrs.).
Day 16: Drive from Pokhara back to Kathmandu. The day’s drive is spectacular with the landscapes, river views, hills, springs, markets, cities and small settlements. The day’s country drive to Kathmandu is a good combination of varieties. Overnight in Kathmandu (1350 mtrs.).
Day 17: Free day in Kathmandu. The whole day is allowed free to shop.
Day 18: Free time in the morning, depending upon the flight time, drive to the airport for onward flight.
